Networking in Covid-19 with Steven David Elliot - DavidKamatoy.com Show Clip #MCE
This is the 2nd posted clip from the new DavidKamatoy.com show. Steven David Elliot is also a former radio host, so he is a great guest. We cover a lot, and I was inspired to get back out there virtually connecting to my database and making new connections in Covid-19. Which we have, so I invite you to watch this interview and hopefully it will help spark and inspire networking in and out of Covid-19.
(Press Release) Multi-creative entrepreneur and television host and producer David Kamatoy has released his latest video from The DavidKamatoy.com Show on networking in the era of Covid 19 with author and entrepreneur Steven David Elliot. In the segment, “Networking in Covid-19 with Steven David Elliot,” the two discuss the creation of Elliot’s networking program, Rockstar Connect, and the challenges of networking in the coronavirus era.
After beginning a career in social work with the elderly, Steven David Elliot became interested in marketing after learning sales technique from a cousin. Remembering what his elderly clients had often said to him while in social work about regrets for things they had not done, Elliot decided to follow a dream and open up a bookstore. Eventually he had four successful bookstores, two each in North Carolina and Miami, Florida, which he ran for 15 years. Even in an era of growing online book sales, Elliot’s stores thrived because of his emphasis on networking.
“It’s not about what you sell; it’s about the people,” Elliot explains in the interview. “I would help people, and they would reward me by doing business with me.” This focus on networking continued to grow and developed into a consistent networking event that provided the help he needed in his business. “I’m not a small business when I have a networking event, because I have that big tribe, a nation of people who are around me.”
Elliot goes on in the interview to explain how this networking event then grew into what today is the Rockstar Connect series of networking events. His theory, which he has shown to be quite successful, is that if people did a consistent networking event every month, they would never have to do any other form of prospecting. This is the power behind Rockstar Connect events which focus around an event host who is featured through social media pushes. By building an event designed to provide attendees with what they need to be successful, the host earns their gratitude and their connections. Many times a person who was never at the event is inspired by an attendee to connect and do business with the host.
The interview concludes with a discussion on the continued importance of connections and networking during the current Covid-19 era and beyond. Kamatoy points out the challenges of the new generation placing an inordinate emphasis on social media connections in contrast to tried-and-true methods such as phone calls. “That’s something we need to reinforce again, that it’s so strongly about relationships first.”

“How to Google Yourself Properly” Video from DavidKamatoy.com Show
San Diego, CA (For Release) - Multi-creative entrepreneur and television producer David Kamatoy has released his latest video, “How to Google Yourself Properly.” In this video, a segment from the new David Kamatoy.com Show, he provides tips and suggestions to make searching for your own name on the internet powerful and effective.
“People Google, or search, themselves on the internet all the time,” Kamatoy explains, “but they do it in a way that is not optimal. They tend to use the same browser they use for everything else, which skews the results to the sites they most frequently visit.” By using a private or incognito browser, he points out, the results will be much closer to what other people would see if they were searching for an individual.
In the Covid-19 “new normal,” the way people connect has changed immensely. Because more of our interactions are online, internet searches have become an even greater part of the equation. This is especially true when it comes to social media, particularly Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. As Kamatoy tells people, “In the age of social media, every person is a brand and every company is a media company.” Understanding this brings the idea of optimal searching into greater focus.
Once a person has done an optimal search, the next step, according to Kamatoy, is looking for trends in the results. As an exercise, he suggests doing optimal searches on other people to see what those trends are. Once an individual has identified their own trends, they can then begin to further optimize the results to improve the odds of the right person finding them. This can include creating videos (YouTube is the second highest ranked site for searches), creating or further developing a personal branded website, or checking into sites such as LinkedIn or IMDb.com. All of these steps work together to give an individual the tools needed to improve the results others will have when they search online.
Deputy Attorney General Mike Murphy Running for State Superior Court Seat #30
San Diego, CA (For Release) - Deputy Attorney General Mike Murphy, a San Diego County native with more than two decades of prosecutorial experience, is running to fill Superior Court Seat #30. During his tenure Murphy has worked at all levels of the state court system, from trial courts to the Court of Appeals and the California Supreme Court. He has built a reputation of fairness and integrity based on a record of making the right decisions and applying the law fairly and equally. Murphy’s bid has been supported by retiring Superior Court Judge Louis Hanoian, who calls Murphy “uncompromisingly fair, honest and professional.”
“I have served as a prosecutor for 24 years now in our state courts,” explains Murphy, who has handled a number of extremely complex criminal trials across Southern California. “That experience has given me the unique opportunity to develop my understanding of the law and my knowledge of our legal system from top to bottom.”
Above and beyond his experience as a prosecutor, Murphy prides himself on adhering to the high standards of integrity and impartiality he believes all judges should hold. “Judges make decisions every day that have an impact on the people that appear before them, and those decisions can be very significant for those individual lives,” he points out. “The people who appear before the courts need to have confidence that their judges are making decisions not based on political bias, not based on a political agenda, but on the Constitution and the laws that our representatives have passed.”
In addition to Judge Hanoian, Murphy is endorsed by eight other Superior Court Judges. Other county leaders endorsing Murphy include San Diego County Sheriff Bill Gore, retired San Diego City Chief of Police David Bejarano, retired San Diego County District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis, and San Diego County Supervisor Greg Cox. The San Diego Deputy District Attorneys Association has also given its support to Murphy in his bid for Superior Court Judge.
“Superior Court judges have the ability to impact in positive ways the community that they live in,” says Murphy, whose education includes St. Augustine High School, San Diego State University, and the USD School of Law. “It would be an honor to serve in that capacity now as a Superior Court judge.”

CES 2020: Mark Christopher Lawrence & Jonathan Winbush Awarded DreamlandXR “Best Director”
Las Vegas, NV (For Release) - The creative team behind actor and producer Mark Christopher Lawrence’s virtual reality (VR) comedy special, “Live at the Mad House Comedy Club,” has been honored with the Best Director Award at the 2020 DreamlandXR Festival. The Festival took place in Las Vegas January 6-10, 2020, in connection with the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES). In addition to Lawrence, the team included award-winning motion graphics artist Jonathan Winbush and immersive technology guru Hugh Hou.
The DreamlandXR Festival brought together the best and newest in virtual reality and augmented reality entertainment, music and E-sports. The organization is dedicated to being a driving force in the immersive technology industry. “Live at the Mad House Comedy Club” took honors alongside such industry giants as the Cartoon Network, The Lion King Movie , CNN, and Lego Batman . The judging panel included experts from HTC, Paramount, Dell, Google, Lenovo, and HP. A full list of DreamlandXR winners can be found at dreamlandxr.com/voting.
The project began more than a year before, when the VR360 technology it featured was still new. Merging the 360 and 180 formats used required a number of platforms and some creative mixing of the 8K footage. Because it was filmed in an actual comedy club, lighting presented an additional challenge. Adding to all this was the fact that, as a stand-up comedy show with a live audience, the team had only one chance to get it right.
“Filming VR in the dark usually is very costly,” explained Hou, who is a Co-Founder and Creative Director for production studio CreatorUp. “We had to be very creative on camera placement and remote monitoring to make the camera angles feel like an audience so viewers can feel like they are really there.”
“This is a big win because we did create something that's the first of its kind, being a standup comedy special in VR,” said Winbush, who has been rated as one of the top 25 artists in Hollywood by Inferno Development. “Since releasing the project we've been invited by Chinese VR company VeeR to do a virtual Q&A about the project, we've had the project featured by software company Mettle, and it was FireFox's VR pick of the week for December.”
“Working with Jonathan and Hugh on this project was just amazing,” said Lawrence of the collaboration. “These two guys simply worked magic. It was an honor and a pleasure to put this show together.”
